Art book with 7 texts by Jens Christian Grøndahl and 6 original lithographs by Peter Martensen. The book is based on Bertolt Brecht’s Svendborg poems, which he wrote during his exile in Denmark in the 1930s. Here Brecht found a temporary refuge from Nazism, and the poems are today considered among his most important works.

In this publication, literature and visual art meet in a new interpretation, where Grøndahl’s texts and Martensen’s images provide a contemporary look at Brecht’s time and thoughts. While writing the texts, Jens Christian Grøndahl lived in Brecht’s house in Svendborg, where the inspiration is naturally great. Likewise, Peter Martensen lived in Brecht’s House during the period he printed the 6 lithographs at Atelier Clot’s workshop in Svendborg.
