Peter Larsen
Peter Larsen (b. 1984) is a Danish artist who grew up on Funen and now lives and works in Copenhagen. He graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2013 and has since developed an artistic style that spans several media, including painting, drawing, ceramics and graphic techniques such as etching, screen printing and lithography. Larsen’s art is characterized by an imaginative and playful approach, drawing inspiration from fairy tales, mythology, wildlife and urban landscapes. His works often create a dreamy, sometimes dystopian atmosphere where the boundaries between reality and fantasy merge. Using strong colors, distinctive shapes and symbolism, he challenges the viewer’s perception of space and narrative. He has exhibited both in Denmark and internationally, including in the USA and the UK. In addition to his work as an artist, he also teaches printmaking at the art college in Holbæk.
Original lithographs for sale by Peter Larsen
A lithograph – also called lithography – is a technique that is almost 250 years old. In short, it is a limestone that serves as the artist’s canvas. The artist draws the design directly on the stone – one color at a time. Then the edition is printed with the desired color. The stone is then sanded, and is now ready for the artist to draw the next color. It is a slow process and it is not uncommon for Peter Larsen’s lithographs to have up to 10 layers of color.
