Mie Olise Kjærgaard
Mie Olise Kjærgaard is a Danish artist working with painting, sculpture and installations. Graduated from Central St. Martins in London in 2007. Olise works with painterly strokes and in large formats. Painting since the age of 15, her artistic journey has been long and winding, starting with female figuration and a feminist angle in her teens. In recent years, she has returned to this starting point. She has had a number of solo exhibitions, most recently in 2024 at The Foundry in Seoul, Korea, and in 2023 at Karpidas Collection in Dallas, Various Small Fires in the USA, and Journal Gallery in New York City, among others. She has also participated in many group exhibitions and received numerous awards and grants from the Danish Arts Foundation and the New Carlsberg Foundation, among others.

A lithograph – also called lithography – is a technique that is almost 250 years old. In short, it is a limestone that serves as the artist’s canvas. The artist draws the motif directly on the stone with a grease pencil – one color at a time. Then the edition is printed with the desired color. The stone is then polished and ready for the artist to draw the next color.
