Kurt Trampedach, born May 13, 1943 in Hillerød, Denmark, was a recognized Danish visual artist. His artistic journey began in 1963 when he started his studies at the art academy, and it was in the late 1960s that he experienced his artistic breakthrough. Trampedach became known for his paintings and graphic works, but his artistic output also included sculptures. He had a particular interest in self-portraits and often used his wife as a model, giving his work a personal and intimate character. In 1979, Trampedach made the decision to live in Sare in the French part of the Basque Country, near the border with Spain, where he worked in isolation. Unfortunately, his artistic journey was marked by several tragedies, as his studio burned down several times. In 2005, a French-Moroccan was convicted of setting fire to his studio in France. Trampedach passed away on November 12, 2013 at his home. His works are represented in renowned museums such as Statens Museum for Kunst, Fyns Kunstmuseum, Kunstmuseet Trapholt in Kolding, Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum, Randers Kunstmuseum, Skive Kunstmuseum, Vejle Kunstmuseum and ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum.
